Volunteer Community Co-ordinators Programme
Purpose
To promote positive ageing through community participation in policy development.
To ensure information about issues affecting older New Zealanders is widely understood in government and the community.
Outcomes
Policies that promote and enhance positive ageing in New Zealand.
The Volunteer Community Co-ordinators (VCCs) programme is a network of volunteers throughout the country, who work with the Office for Senior Citizens to carry out projects on behalf of the Minister for Senior Citizens.
The VCCs for the Office for Senior Citizens are a diverse group and are located in different parts of the country. They have access to a wide range of local networks, including people from different cultures and backgrounds, from rural and urban areas, community organisations and local government.
These networks enable communities to participate quickly and effectively in projects that contribute to policy development.
