Nicky has over 30 years of leadership experience in central and local government. Most recently, she has held a senior leadership role at Nelson City Council, where she actively championed age friendly initiatives and collaborated on projects to support older residents, and their wellbeing.

Nicky’s background also includes diplomatic roles with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

She has a strong track record supporting older New Zealanders, including securing funding for innovative projects such as AI support for older adults. Nicky has also served on the Age-Friendly Aotearoa Expert Advisory Board and completed an international fellowship on ageing demographics.

"I'm really looking forward to connecting with our partners and stakeholders," says Nicky.

"Hearing their insights will be key as we work together to support older New Zealanders.”

Nicky starts as Director on 25 August 2025. Until then, George Minton will be Acting Director.
